Charis graduated from the University of Warwick with a Bachelor of Laws (Second Upper Class Honours). She is admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore.
Charis is part of the firm’s litigation and dispute resolution department. She has been involved in litigation before the High Court and State Courts of Singapore in a range of contentious matters involving contractual disputes, defamation, breach of director’s duties and employment disputes.
- Assisting in advising a trustee of an umbrella unit trust with respect to its rights and obligations, and strategizing course of actions to mitigate risk.
- Assisted in acting for a wholly-owned subsidiary of an Australia-based leading livestock supplier against an executive director in respect of employment-related claims, and successfully reached a settlement agreement for both Singapore and Australia proceedings.
- Assisted in advising a cableship operating company in respect of the validity of undertakings arising from the contractual interpretation of bareboat charter agreements and cable maintenance agreements, amongst others.
- Assisted in acting for an interior design company against an executive and successfully obtained unconditional leave to defend against the claims for bonuses and termination benefits at an Order 14 Summary Judgment hearing.
